North Lawndale Youth Sports Association Meeting for Adults

Overall Purpose: The North Lawndale Community Coordinating Council (NLCCC) Recreation Committee, Old St. Pat’s Kinship initiative, UCAN and Play Like a Champion are hosting a meeting at Old St. Pat’s Church to discuss the proposed formation of a North Lawndale Athletic Association.

Coaches from the North Lawndale community will be discussing: the current state of youth sports programs program needs in light of funding reductions (city and community and organizations) Proposed partnership/organizational structure to address the needs.

In addition, Play Like a Champion, founded by Clark Power, Professor of Psychology and Education at the University of Notre Dame, will conduct a “coaching as ministry” training session with a focus on the character development of the youth athletes.

Logistics: Time: 9AM- 1PM. Place: Old St. Pats. 711 W. Monroe St., Chicago, IL. Free parking: Use the "Park 1" Lot at the northwest corner of Monroe and DesPlaines (right in front of the building). Refreshments to be served.

More info: Adults interested in supporting youth recreation programs in North Lawndale are encouraged to attend. To facilitate the discussion, we are asking North Lawndale organizations attending to prepare a 1-page background of the organization for distribution at the meeting. If you send the information prior to the meeting, copies will be made and distributed for the attendees.
