The Haymarket String Quartet performs Franz Joseph Hadyn's 200 year old classical music masterpiece in the spirit of Lent and as a solemn meditation on Christ's suffering and death on the cross. In each of seven stirring movements, the music moves listeners to the depths of their souls. In between each movement, seven diverse speakers offer brief reflections on Jesus' final utterances as they are recounted in the scriptures and as they apply to us today.
The Haymarket Quartet is composed of members of the Haymarket Opera Orchestra.
Founded in 2016 in order to explore the rich quartet literature of the 18th century, HSC makes its public debut with this concert.
